Monday, Mar. 31, 2003 | 9:46 AM Invitation to the dance
Good-bye Weekend. You were truly glorious if exhausting. I wish you would stay around longer. Even if you do leave me in a greater state of fatigue than I had been previous to your arrival. So much debauchery and so much work. Days filled with rehearsal and nights filled with parties. How much can a girl take? The show is only about 5 weeks away and we are into heavy-duty rehearsal mode. Its glorious and taxing as hell. I have to start being more disciplined about my health. After all I dont want to get sick or collapse or something. Living in this characters skin is terribly sad. We just finished act I. Act II is tragic. I cant wait. Being in this play is so CATHARTIC. Heres ticket information again: Show dates and times are as follows: Friday, May 9 at 8 PM Saturday, May 10 at 2 PM & 8 PM Thursday, May 15 at 8 PM Friday, May 16 at 8 PM Saturday, May 17 at 8 PM Tickets are on sale now. They may be purchased in person at the Cambridge Family YMCA, located at 820 Massachusetts Ave. in Cambridge, MA. The theatre is located on the Red Line T (Central Square stop), four blocks towards Harvard Square. Advanced ticket sales may be made at the front desk during business hours, on Monday-Saturday from 9 AM-7 PM and Sunday 9 AM-5 PM. Only cash is accepted for ticket pre-sales at the YMCA. Tickets may be available on the day of the performance directly from the Box Office before the curtain opens, although it is best to buy your tickets in advance in case the show sells out which it most likely will. Cash or checks (made payable to The Longwood Players) will be accepted for in person ticket sales at the Box Office on the day of the performance. The Box Office opens 45 minutes before curtain. Tickets may also be purchased on line here. Ticket prices for Cabaret are $16 (orchestra) and $14 (balcony); there is a $2 senior discount. All seating is general admission, so please come together with those whom you wish to sit and arrive at the theatre early for the best seats. The Box Office at the theatre opens 45 minutes before show time. The house generally opens 20-30 minutes before curtain. The theatre is a beautiful old space that has only been recently refurbished, and its absolutely perfect for the show. The show is truly going to be EXCELLENT and Im not just saying that cause Im in it. I have never been more impressed with a group of actors. Most of these people are professionals, and all around everyone is very strong. The plot is so prescient, the music some of the best ever written, the characters so complex, and its very much a musical that can be enjoyed by people who dont like musicals. Also, theres a lot of simulated sex and scantily clad ladies and boys, so thats as good a reason to come as any. Oh and buy tickets ASAP because the show is going to sell out.
