More about the fast

Everyone is so excited about the cleansing fast!

Everyone wants to know all about it!

Here�s the deal:

1) You don�t eat for 10 days. However, do this only if you are comfortable. If you feel seriously malnourished add some protein meal or eat some vegetables or something. I really suggest talking to your doctor before you embark on a fast. And your reasons for doing it shouldn�t be just about weightloss. Weight loss is a byproduct of cleaning out your body.

2) I suggest getting a hydrotherapy colonic prior to starting the fast because you will feel much better during the 10 day cleansing if you have already rid your body of toxins. Trust me on this. If you don�t, you will be experiencing the horrible chills/ shaking/fever symptoms I experienced during the colonic, but you will most likely be experiencing them for several days.

3) Instead of eating, you continuously drink (say once every hour or two hours) the following mixture:

10-14 oz. of pure water (either britta or poland spring�not from the tap)
2 tablespoons of organic lemon juice�yes it must be organic. Get it from a health food store
2 tablespoons of organic grade B maple syrup�yes it must be organic and yes it must be grade B.
1/2 teaspoon or more of organic cayenne pepper

4) In between drinking this mixture (which actually isn�t bad�kinda like spicy lemonade) drink tons of water. Keep drinking water all day.

5) The other part of the cleansing is that every morning when you wake up, you mix two teaspoons of sea salt (not table salt�it�s gotta be sea salt.) into a big glass of water�preferably really warm water and drink it down all at once. Because your colon isn�t going to have any food in it, the sea salt scrapes along the sides and picks up all the toxic junk that has been sticking to the walls for ages. About three hours from the point that you drink the salt water, you will have an um, bowel movement. So most people like to wake up extra early to do this. If you don�t want to drink the salt water, drink a cup of smooth ease (a laxative tea found in healthfood stores and fancy places like Bread and Circus) prior to going to bed at night. Most people believe that the salt water drink is more effective than the tea. Some people agree that if you want to drink the salt water but don�t want to do it in the morning, you can do it at night.

6) While you are fasting do not take any unnecessary medication. If you are on a prescription medication, talk to your doctor about whether you should continue while on the fast. Also, don�t take any vitamins/supplements�except fish oil or lax seed. It keeps your skin from sagging.

7) Things to expect during the fast are as follows. You will probably feel like crap for the first couple days especially if you haven�t had a colonic. You make not smell good and your mouth might taste bad. You may break out. You may get the chills. Your tongue will most likely turn white. You may have all kinds of other unpleasant symptoms. This is because your body is releasing toxins. You will feel better in a couple days. You may have bad symptoms followed by elation and feeling terrific and then get bad symptoms again. This is all normal. At the end of the fast, you will (according to what people who have done it say) feel much better than you have in a ,long time�physically, mentally, and emotionally.

8) You may ask then, �how do I know if I�m experiencing symptoms because I�m cleaning my body of toxins, or if I�m really doing myself harm?� There is no good answer to this question. Which is why I think it�s important to stay in touch with your doctor and a holistic practitioner or someone else who has been on the fast and knows what they�re doing. Also, do not do this fast if you are actively anorexic, bullemic, or experiencing really hard times in your life. Before you start the fast you should feel very clear and in touch with your feelings and your health. This kind of cleansing doesn�t just clear your body of old toxins, but really stirs people up emotionally as well. So be very kind to yourself.

9) People have stayed on this fast past ten days. Some people have stayed on it for forty days. Supposedly you know when your body is clear by the color of your tongue. Your tongue will get really white when your body is releasing toxins but then will get pink again when it is done.

Most of what I�ve just written is secondhand information because I�ve only been on this now for two days. I will continue to update you all and feel free to email me if you have any questions I�m not asking.

I want to state again that this is not a fad diet. It is not pro-anorexia. It is also not something to stay on indefinitely. It really has very little to do with weight loss. Some people don�t even lose weight. It is about health, and that is what any eating plan should be about, which is something it has taken me 25 years to finally realize.
